About Nazy

Founder of Newport Hair Loss Center

Nazy Curtis is an award-winning, European trained hair stylist and salon owner of d’Orsay [doorsay] - the Art of Hair in Newport Beach where she services a diverse client base.  Included are those who are suffering hair loss for medical reasons.  In this area, Nazy has personal experience. Order her book "No One Can Tell" today.

It was ironic that a woman who dedicated her life and career to styling hair would be losing her own, but in 1999, Nazy experienced hair loss in different areas on her head and was diagnosed with alopecia.  Making the decision to keep her alopecia to herself, Nazy was asked by those closest to her if she’d continue to style hair.  Her response was, “I can’t imagine doing anything else.”  Although grieving the loss of her hair, Nazy determined to keep silent while coming up with a suitable solution to her hair loss problem.

After re-working countless store bought wigs, she began making her own custom hair pieces. She found that a custom-made human hair wig was the most comfortable, practical, and realistic looking alternative to her lost hair. Those who shared her secret spread the word of her new found talent for making wigs and she soon became the go-to stylist for those with all types of hair loss; alopecia, trichotillomania, and cancer. Oncologists and other medical specialists began referring their patients.

Then Nazy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Went through chemotherapy treatment, and is now a cancer survivor and activist.

So when Nazy says she understands the pain of hair loss her clients describe, she is sincere.  Nazy explains “During fittings, clients share with me their anger about their illness and what is happening to them.  They express their concerns about losing their hair.  This is typical of cancer patients.  I listen as they share their feelings and fears.  When I tell clients that hair loss is not the end of the world and they have options, they can believe me.  I truly understand what they are going through.”

If there is anyone who can help cancer patients and those with alopecia or trichotillomania get beyond their emotional issues of hair loss, Nazy is that person.  Her infectious positive attitude and her desire to help others with their hair loss issues emanate a sense of hope, acceptance, and an optimistic view on life ahead. When patients come into Newport Hair Loss Center, patients can see first-hand how hair loss does not have to define them.  After all, if a professional woman, in the hair and beauty industry of all places, can go about her life and career with total hair loss while looking beautiful in a custom-made wig, anyone can!  Nazy has assisted many patients to regain their self-esteem through counseling them and providing beautiful custom wigs so that they can focus on what really matters- getting well and getting on with their lives.
